Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay is a Californian born in Long beach on 24 August 1972. Her aunt Denise encouraged her passion for artistic expression and creative thinking. She worked as a night nurse to allow her mother the time she needed throughout the day to indulge in the passion of literature, art, as well as theatre. As a result of her tasks she was dissatisfied with journalistic work and entered the publicity business. DuVernay found a job immediately from college, working as a publicist in the young age of a studio. Her own Public Relations company, The DuVernay Agency was established in 1999.
